Monotonous But addicting

What I cannot figure out is why only sometimes icloud or gamecenter gives me a choice of 2 different level pirates? I have to start from scratch 99.98% of the time and I play daily! I will get up to level 12-13 per game and die bc not enough gold to stay alive, which then I start from level 1! I hope someone can tell me what Im doing wrong! And then at maybe 10PM I might turn it on and a level 4 and a level 12 pirate pop up and I can choose which one, BUT this ONLY happened 2-3 times since I started playing a few months ago. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING THAT IM ABOUT TO QUIT, :(
